Embry's Crossroads (Magic Eye Series)
Recorded and performed by Pinkerton in the 11th hour on a shitty 4-track in Fontes' basement in the Summer of 1995. Fontes plays slide guitar. Hunter was home sick.
The Magic Eye single series was put together by this guy Jeffrey from Maryland who mutual friends Small Factory/the Godrays put us in touch with. I don't know how many he made (at least 5 or 6 separate singles) but they usually featured four bands per single at 33 1/3 I think.
A lot of names from the mid 90's were on these as well as certain side projects of the day i.e. Sonorra Pine is Tara Jane O'Neil from Rodan and Retsin. Some bands were just his friends from the Baltimore area where the label was.
The nifty thing about them was they were printed in small batches (500 or so) and the cardboard covers were hand made from whatever he had around the house i.e. cereal boxes, laundry detergent boxes etc. with the raw cardboard (brown cardsboard)on the outside. Only if you open them up do you see that is was once a Cheerios box. They were then handstamped with the label logo and info and hand numbered with the series i.e. 54/500 (the fifty fourth of five hundred).
